Public comment sought on new ACCESS paratransit service standards
Valley Regional Transit staff are completing an update to the ACCESS paratransit operations and standards manual. The project has included a detailed review of service standards and practices, outreach with regional and operations staff supporting ACCESS functions, and a focus group with customers and advocates of customers.
VRT is currently seeking comment on the ACCESS service standards. Below are links to a question and answer summary document about the service standards, a summary of a ACCESS participant handbook that is being completed, and a link to an interactive comment form. HOW TO PROVIDE COMMENT
- You can attend one of two scheduled open houses: Wednesday, December 10, in the main lobby of Boise City Hall, 150 N. Capitol, or Thursday, December 11, in the City Council Chambers at Nampa City Hall, 411 3rd St. S. Both open houses are scheduled from 3-7 p.m.
- You can fill out the interactive comment form and email it to email@example.com. You can also fax it to 208-846-8564.
- We also have the SURVEY posted on the Survey Monkey website. All you need to do is fill out the survey. No further action is needed.

ACCESS Paratransit Service
ACCESS is a transportation service operated by ValleyRide through the tax support of local municipalities. The service is designed to complement Valleyride's regular bus system. The service is available to people who are unable to utilize the bus system because of a disability. Eligibility may be limited on a conditional basis, and each trip can be reviewed.
ACCESS is an origin to destination transit service for the cities of Boise, Garden City, Nampa and Caldwell. The Boise/Garden City service operates Monday through Saturday with the same hours as the fixed-line bus system. There also is origin to destination paratransit service available in Nampa and Caldwell that operates Monday through Friday with the same hours as the fixed-line bus system.ACCESS service travels three-fourths of a mile from fixed-line services. Pickup and dropoff locations for ACCESS service will be within three-fourths of a mile of fixed-line service.
Service is by reservation only. Trips may be booked up to 14 days in advance, but no later than 5:00 p.m., for service the next operating day.
All ACCESS passengers must keep their certification current and re-apply when their certification expires.Once approved, ACCESS fares are $2 per one-way trip for each passenger and for each guest. A personal care attendant may ride for free.

ATTENTION CURRENT ACCESS CLIENTS: Please note that you can no longer use the pre-addressed postage-paid envelopes provided by Valley Regional Transit (VRT) to order ride tickets. These envelopes will not be delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. If you have any of these postage-paid envelopes, please throw them away. If you do not have a pre-adressed envelope that requires affixing the proper postage, please send your ticket request to:
